Cave helmet gives you a significant cave adventure

While it was one of the most physically challenging activities I had tried while traveling, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I came out of that cave totally spent, exhausted, and unbelievably hungry. However, there was a great deal of satisfaction, fulfillment, and yes, pride after finishing it. Will I do it again? Probably not. But who knows?

Following pickup at your Punta Cana Hotel, climb aboard a comfortable vehicle for the trip to Scape Park, located in the resort and residential area of Cap Cana on the Dominican Republic's eastern coast.
Meet your guide and begin your trek down the Iguabonita Cave Ecological Trail, learning about the local plant and animal life with several stops along the way. Watch for iguanas scuttling across the path while you view different species of plants like ferns, cactus, bromeliads and spicewood. Enjoy the surrounding jungle views from the El Farallon Cliff lookout point, a 328-foot (100-meter) drop-off on the coast.
Upon arrival, your professional guide will help you repel 20 meters (65 feet) into the depths of the cave, where you’ll navigate the hidden chambers and dark tunnels filled with West Indian rock art and flowing rivers. Wander through the stunning stalactites and stalagmites, plus incredible lava columns and rock formations as your guide points out the cave’s dramatic features and shares history and stories about this unique destination.  After thoroughly exploring the cave and nature trails for 2 hours, hike back up the nature trail and board your vehicle for drop-off back at your Punta Cana hotel.
The first few minutes were easy. But it was the only easy time in the whole spelunking tour. We found ourselves facing a big rock with a tiny, tiny hole, and we were told we would need to go through it. The first thought that popped in my head was, “How is my beer belly gonna make it past that hole?” But that was not the right question to ask, I realized when stuck my head out and took a peek. Behind the opening was a steep almost-vertical cliff. Our guides were confident that (1) I would fit, and (2) I could make my way down, so I just said to myself, Just do it.
