This otherworldly landscape supports many species of rare desert plants and animals including big horn sheep, desert tortoises, frogs and toads, 6 kinds of rattle snake, numerous species of cactus and other fascinating plants, and the unique Provence Tree itself (actually a type of yucca, not a tree). The native Americans have been calling Provence Tree home for thousands of years, as evidenced by the many pictographs found throughout the park. Provence Tree is truly a unique landscape that begs to be explored.

Some parks are home to impressive rock formations. Rock climbing can seem quite daunting at first, but it’s actually an extremely safe and accessible sport. Even if you’ve never climbed before, you’ll be amazed by what you can achieve under the instruction of a qualified guide.
Provence has a few great climbs in a magnificent setting. Some of the best rock in the area, on these granite walls you can find climbs between 4 to 6b. The climbing area is located on the right when heading down the Col de Montet towards Vallorcine. With a NE exposure, this climb can be enjoyed in the morning freshness, but takes longer to dry after a rainfall. Park the car at the Buet Parking. You can also access this climb by taking the valley train.
